  1. 1.First, which are you

    You use Rykon Mail
You signed up, were invited to an account, or contacted us. We are the Controller of your data. Read the next section.
You received mail from a company that uses Rykon Mail
You are on that company’s list, or wrote to one of its mailboxes. The company is the Controller of your data and decides how it is used; we process it for them. Read “If a company emailed you”.
  2. 2.If you use Rykon Mail

Much of what you need you can do yourself, at once, in the console:

    • See and correct: your profile and your account’s settings.
    • Export: owners and admins can download the account’s data and its contacts; mail moves out over IMAP to any mail app.
    • Delete: the owner can close the account from Settings. It closes after seven days, and everything in it is deleted from the live service.

For anything else (access to everything we hold about you, objection, restriction or a question) write to privacy@rykonmail.com with "Privacy request" in the subject, from the address on your account if you can. We acknowledge within 10 days and answer within one month, or 45 days for California requests. We may ask you to confirm who you are, and never charge for a reasonable request.

  3. 3.If a company emailed you

To stop the mail, use the unsubscribe link at the foot of any campaign or automated email. It takes effect immediately, needs nothing more than one click, and keeps you off that company’s list.

For access, correction or deletion, contact the company that sent the mail. Its name and postal address are at the foot of every campaign or automated email it sends through Rykon Mail, and you can reply to the message itself. The company can export, correct or erase your record from its console; erasing removes your contact and its history, and keeps only your address on its do-not-mail list so you are not mailed again.

If you cannot reach the company, or it does not answer, write to privacy@rykonmail.com with "Privacy request" in the subject and the sender’s domain. As Processor we cannot decide on your request in the company’s place, but we will pass it to them promptly, help them answer it, and tell you we have done so.

To report unwanted or abusive mail from a Rykon Mail sender, write to abuse@rykonmail.com with the message headers. We act on it under our acceptable use policy.

  4. 4.The rights you have

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you have the right to be informed; to access your data; to correct it; to have it erased; to restrict processing; to data portability; to object, including to direct marketing at any time; and not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that significantly affect you. Rykon Mail makes no such decisions about people.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA you have the right to know, delete and correct personal information, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. Rykon Mail does not sell or share personal information.

Other laws give similar rights, and we honour requests from anywhere on the same terms.

  5. 5.Complaints

You may complain to a data protection authority, in particular in the EU member state where you live or work or where an infringement took place, or to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. We would welcome the chance to put things right first.
