Roles and inviting your team
Owners, admins and members, what each can do, and how invitations work.
Updated 1 min read
Everyone on an account has one of three roles. The console shows each person only the controls their role allows, and the same rules are checked again on every change.
The roles
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything an admin can, and also: rename the account, invite admins, change anyone's role, remove admins and other owners, and close the account. An account always keeps at least one owner. |
| Admin | Domains, mailboxes, shared addresses, audience, forms, campaigns, automations, brand, agents, sending keys and billing. Approve, schedule, pause and resume campaigns and switch automations on. Invite and remove members, and export the account. |
| Member | Can see the account; cannot change it. Members can still ask for help, leave the account, and use the campaign assistant to ask questions. |
Invite someone
- Step 1: Go to Settings and find Team.
- Step 2: Under Invite someone, enter their email address.
- Step 3: Choose the role. Owners can invite an Admin or a Member; admins can invite members.
- Step 4: Choose Send invitation. They get an email with a link to join.
If the email cannot be sent, the console says Invitation ready for their address and gives you a link to copy and send them yourself.
Pending invitations
- Pending invitations are listed under the team, with who sent them and when they expire. Invitations last 7 days.
- Resend sends a fresh invitation. Withdraw cancels it.
- An invitation works only for the address it was sent to, and that person must have confirmed their address when signing up.
- Open invitations count towards the number of people your plan includes: 5 on the trial, 25 on Starter and 500 on Business.
Change a role or remove someone
Owners pick a new role from the menu beside each person. Remove takes someone off the account; admins can remove members. To leave an account yourself, choose Leave on your own row. You will need a new invitation to come back.
