Choose what happens when new mail arrives

Leave mail for the agent, notify its endpoint at once, have Rykon Mail draft replies for approval, or reply within your rules.

Updated 1 min read

Under When new mail arrives, pick one per agent. Whatever you pick, nothing leaves outside the agent's sending rules, and automated mail is never answered.

ChoiceWhat happens
NothingMail waits in the inbox until the agent reads it through its key.
Notify the agentA signed request goes to your endpoint the moment mail arrives, so the agent can act at once.
Draft a reply for approvalRykon Mail writes a reply from your instructions, and it waits for a person, every time.
Reply automaticallyRykon Mail replies from your instructions within the agent's sending rules; anything outside them waits for a person.

Instructions for drafts and replies

Write what the agent knows and how it should answer, up to 4,000 characters. Replies use only what is written there. Anything it does not cover, and anything sensitive like refunds or complaints, is left for a person. It never answers the same person more than three times a day.

Notifications to your endpoint

  1. Step 1: Choose Notify the agent and enter Your endpoint, an https:// address.
  2. Step 2: Choose Save, then copy the signing secret. It is shown once; Make a new signing secret replaces it.
  3. Step 3: On each request, check the x-rykonmail-signature header, then read the message with the agent's key.

The request is a POST with a small JSON body naming the agent and the message: its id, sender, subject and date. The header is t= a time and v1= an HMAC-SHA256 of the time, a full stop, and the body, made with your secret.
