Consent: the proof kept with every contact
What Rykon Mail records when someone joins your list, and why an imported file is never consent on its own.
Updated 1 min read
Every contact on your audience arrives with a record of how they agreed to hear from you. It is what lets you show, if anyone asks, that a person signed up.
| How they joined | What is kept |
|---|---|
| Sign-up form | The exact consent words on the form when they signed up, when, the address the sign-up came from, and when they confirmed by email if the form asks. |
| Import | Your sentence saying how they agreed, the basis you chose, who ran the import and when, and your declaration that you may lawfully import them. |
Open any contact in Audience to see their record under Agreed to, When, From address and Confirmed by email. The account export includes every contact with their consent evidence.
Rules that protect your list
- Campaigns and automations only go to people who are subscribed. People awaiting confirmation are never sent marketing.
- A file is never consent on its own: every import needs a basis, a sentence and your declaration.
- Imports never change an existing contact's status, and never add back anyone who unsubscribed, bounced or reported spam.
- Every campaign and automation email carries your postal address and a one-click unsubscribe link.
