Domain and record statuses explained
What Confirm ownership, Verifying, Ready, Live and Needs attention mean, and what Still spreading or Different value ask of you.

Every domain says what it is waiting for, so the list alone tells you what to do next. Domains shows each domain's status and, on wider screens, its next step.
Domain statuses
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Starting | We are getting this domain ready. |
| Confirm ownership | Add the ownership record to your DNS. |
| Add mail records | Add the mail records to your DNS. |
| Verifying | Your records are in. Final checks are running. |
| Ready | Create mailboxes on this domain. |
| Live | Mail is flowing. |
| Needs attention | Something stopped. The domain's page says what, and whether our team has been told. |
Record statuses
Each record on a domain's page has its own status, checked against your own nameservers.
| Status | What to do |
|---|---|
| Published | Nothing. We can see the record and it matches. |
| Still spreading | Nothing. Your nameserver has it and the rest of the internet has not caught up yet. This usually clears within the hour. |
| Not added yet | Add it exactly as shown. |
| Different value | A record of this type exists with a different value. Replace it with the value shown rather than adding a second one. |
| Something else answering | Another value is answering alongside ours, usually because a previous mail provider was left in place. Remove the old one. |
| Cannot check | Your nameservers did not answer us. That is often temporary and we keep trying. If it persists, the domain may not be delegated yet. |
