My domain will not verify
Work through the record statuses: the usual causes are a host typed with the domain on the end, a second SPF record, or an old provider's records.

Open the domain in Domains. Each record has a status that says what is wrong. Fix those marked in colour, then choose Check now.
| What you see | Usual cause and fix |
|---|---|
| Not added yet, though you added it | The host was typed with your domain on the end, so it became _rykonmail.yourcompany.com.yourcompany.com. Enter the host exactly as shown, without the domain. |
| Different value | An older record of the same type and host exists. Replace its value rather than adding a second record. |
| Something else answering | Your previous provider's MX or SPF is still there. Remove it. |
| Still spreading | Nothing is wrong. Wait; it usually clears within the hour. |
| Cannot check | Your nameservers did not answer. If it lasts, the domain may not be pointing at the DNS provider you edited. Check where its nameservers are. |
Other things to check
- Only one SPF record. If you had one, add
mx include:amazonses.comto it before~alland delete any second one. - In Cloudflare, every Rykon Mail record set to DNS only, not proxied.
- Values pasted whole. DKIM values are long; copy them with the copy button rather than by selecting text.
- The right DNS provider. Edit the DNS where the domain's nameservers point, which is not always where you bought it.
Stuck on Verifying
Every record is in, and Amazon SES is confirming your signing keys. It usually takes a few minutes, and we keep asking until it does. You can close the page.
Needs attention
Setup stopped. The domain's page says why, and whether our team has been told. If the ownership record was not seen within 30 days, add the domain again to restart.
